If you’re familiar with one of our hallmark pants, you might be wondering how our three women’s pants compare with each other.
In this post, we’ll look at the fabrics, designs, and pockets of our three women’s pants: the Palma Chino, the Petaluma Ponte, and the Naha Jogger.
The Fabrics
When we’re developing a new product, fabric is critical. Here’s what all three have in common: they’re machine washable, wrinkle resistant and contain stretch – because no one wants to hassle with dry cleaning, ironing, or restricted movement.
The Palma Chino fabric – a lightweight, quick dry stretch twill that won’t wrinkle – is the women's companion to our men’s Ascender Chino. Utility in nature, but sophisticated in look, the Palma is a durable work horse.
The Petaluma Ponte fabric is our upgrade to the basic black yoga legging. Our women’s ponte pants are soft and made of a tightly-woven double knit, which give the illusion of a basic black bottom with the comfort and stretch of a non see-through legging.
Our Naha fabric is the most lightweight fabric of the three, made of a stretch polyester and spandex blend. The naturally wrinkle resistant material keeps you cool and dry in warm weather or on the move.

The Designs
Our design approach always follows fabric. Aside from our Bluffworks benefits of easy care and performance ready features, each fabric is specifically paired with a product design to enhance its versatility.
The Palma Chino is a smart, casual straight leg women's chino with lots of stretch and pockets for hands free movement (say bye to your purse!)
Once we found the soft “hold-you-in” knit fabric for the Petaluma Ponte Pant, we elevated the fitted legging look with slimming side seam details, a slit opening at the hem and zippered pockets.
The Naha Jogger was designed with low-profile cargo pockets, a drawstring waistband, and half ribbed hem for a sleeker look. Don’t worry, you can still run, play, and sweat with no problem and plenty of room for movement.
All three pants are available in the same options for ordering:
- Fits: Standard and Petite
- Sizes: 0-16, XS-XL
The Pockets
We heard that women’s pants with pockets that are functional as well as stylish are hard to find. That’s why pockets are a priority in all our products, both for everyday carry as well as travel security when we’re on the go. They’re integrated with the overall design of the product to ensure a comfortable fit while always looking good.
We approached the pocketing in each pant based on what was appropriate for the style as well as what seamlessly fit within the design.
All 3 pants have at least 2 front pockets, 2 back pockets, and some zippered options for security.
The Palma pocket profile is most like our men’s Ascender Chinos, with a total of 6 pockets including our signature back waistband phone pocket and the alternative patch phone pocket inside the wearer’s front right. Both hold your phone securely and comfortably.
The Petaluma is proudly built with 5 pockets - all but one sporting secure zippers. The hidden envelope pocket inside the extended slimming waistband is perfect for smaller items like credit cards, hotel keys, or cash.
The Naha is the easiest style for loads of pockets, sporting 8 in total. This women’s jogger is the most diverse in pocket design ranging from zippered leg pockets, open hand pockets, and two different patch pockets to securely slide your phone in and out with ease.
