As much as we love to wear jeans at home, there's a debate: can you wear jeans for travel?

We think the answer is yes, and tha jeans make great travel pants -- when designed appropriately.

Since 2018, Bluffworks has designed jeans that take the classic to the airplane skies, by paying attention to three specific features:

The Fabric

Traditional denim with 100% cotton doesn’t stretch and takes forever to dry (hello, miners, in the 1800s).

Bluffworks’s travel denim incorporates:

  • 22% Coolmax polyester to make our jeans wick and dry fast.
  • 68% cotton for softness and a classic look and natural feel.
  • 9% rayon provides structure and balance.
  • And 1% Spandex for stretch.

Our goal was to make a garment that has the performance of technical apparel, but feels like a classic. And, boy, are they satisfying.

Natural and soft. Stretch, but still that denim feel.

Put them on, and I venture you’ll agree…

The Waistband

Here’s a little inside knowledge about apparel design: stretch fabrics require special handling. Make a waistband too stiff, and it digs in. Make it too loose, and your pants won’t stay on.

Our answer is a built-in stretch waistband, reinforced with a unique fusible that delivers the perfect balance of comfort and fit.

The Pockets

On the road, we need someplace to carry our things. But, denim’s traditional J-style pockets and trimmer fit change the game with regards to how security pockets can be worked in.

In response, we reworked how security pockets can fit into denim. Our jeans include:

  • Our signature cell phone pocket is still there, high on the waistband to store your phone.
  • A secret hidden rear zippered pocket under the back yoke. I’m sure many of our customers don't even know it’s there.
  • A subtle pocket on the side-thigh that is quick and convenient storage for a wallet or even a phone.

Denim On The Road

Denim in Dakar

Find a picture of me when I lived in Dakar, Senegal last year and I might be wearing jeans.

That's because the place is dusty. It feels a little rough an tumble and when I was doing things -- like getting on my motorbike to go to the market -- jeans just felt good.

Now, you can pack jeans to travel anywhere.

Do they count as travel pants? Sure.

Both casual, and great with a blazer, you can wear them most anywhere.
