The wait is over. After more than a year of R&D I’m thrilled to announce that our Departure Travel Jeans are ready to hit the road.
I love a great pair of jeans. The best versions are classic pieces, that stay in your wardrobe year in and year out and are oblivious to the trends. Our favorites become soft and comfortable and fit like they were made for you. And over time, they start to take on their own unique character, a reminder of the places you’ve been and the good times had.
The problem is, before now, jeans weren’t great for travel or a truly active lifestyle. Traditional denim isn’t breathable and they weigh a ton compared to what we’re used to in our favorite travel pants. Nor does true denim stretch or move with you.
So, I decided to create our own.
Meet the fabric:
Finding the right fabric for our men’s travel jeans was the biggest challenge, but the result is a special cotton polyester blend that takes jeans into entirely new territory. In a nutshell, we’ve wrapped a technical jeans fabric into the most soft, classic look and feel.
Notable is that our technical travel jean fabric will wear in the same way your favorite pair of jeans do, by fading and developing character over time. But our material is much lighter; at 11 oz fabric weight per yard (versus the standard 14 oz denim), which means our jeans will dry faster and won't weigh you down.
They are also more breathable than traditional denim to keep you cool in all travel climates.
And most importantly, they include built in stretch so they move with you.
Meet the details:
Maybe you’ve never noticed before, but a traditional pair of jeans includes copper rivets and two different colors of thread. That’s why we included rivets and dual stitching with contrasting yellow and orange thread. (Note: these will wear in over time.)
We maintained the traditional five pocket style like every pair of jeans.
But, they wouldn’t be a pair of Bluffs if we stopped there.
Because pants with zipper pockets are so important for travel, we’ve also included two hidden, ones in the back waistband for your phone, wallet, or other important stuff. We selected a water-resistant zipper and pocket bag to provide a little extra protection while on the road. (Let us know what you think.)
Simple, but elegant. Our goal was not to have you put them on and say, “These are the best travel jeans,” but just that they are the best pair of jeans.
How to wear them:
The beauty of a great pair of jeans is that you can wear them in a lot of different settings. We chose a medium wash for the Departure Travel Jeans that looks great dressed up or down.
For a polished look, pair them with a Gramercy Blazer, a Meridian Dress Shirt, and maybe even a tie.
For roaming around the city, I like to add a Horizon Quilted Vest for a little extra warmth — and a bunch of pockets.
Or, just pair them with your favorite T-shirt for the most classic of looks. (You’re hearing it here first: the most incredible Bluffworks T-shirt is in production now...)
I can’t wait to see where you head off to in our Departure Travel Jeans. I’m willing to bet they become your favorite pair, the ones you reach for over and over again.
Check them out for yourself.
Bluff on,
