Meet the Gramercy Suit

Bluffworks started out of a quest to make a better pair of pants. But in many ways, our hero product is our incredible travel suit, and especially the Gramercy Blazer.

For four years, it’s been a game changer for me, for the company, and for thousands of guys. It’s a go-to business suit / casual suit / wherever suit day after day, and it stands up to the abuse whether I'm wearing it to our office or to the airport. It’s won awards, gotten press, and even helped me raise a round of investment.

And in the words of the people who matter most (our customers), some of the feedback on our Gramercy products:

  • "Excellent, finally a blazer I don't hate."
  • "...perfect for business travel."
  • "Yep, this is the only blazer I need."
  • "Gentlemen — seriously — what are you waiting for?! These pants are amazing."
  • "...compliments galore, soft fit, dressier look than the chinos..."
  • "...comfortable, classy, and easy to care for."

So we’re taking a few moments to reintroduce you to the Gramercy Blazer and Gramercy Pants, two amazing men’s suit separates that truly help make our lives big while keeping our wardrobes small.

Meet the Fabric

Up close and personal with the Gramercy fabric

It took years and a tremendous amount of testing to find a washable suit fabric that could check all our boxes (we got so close once that I took a trip around the world in a final sample for a photoshoot, only to have it fail while on the road — major bummer).

It had to be:

  • Machine washable
  • Wrinkle resistant, no iron required
  • Look like wool
  • Ready to go, straight from a bag
  • Lightweight and breathable
  • Soft and comfortable
  • Tough enough for travel

After much trial and error, we found one that did it all — our incredible Gramercy fabric looks like wool and resists wrinkles, but it’s machine washable. Because we know great adventures rarely start at the dry cleaners, and there’s no point in wearing a nice suit if you look like a wrinkled mess.

We’ve had to send emails to remind customers that yes, it really is washable. Just throw it in the machine on warm (aka 104°F or 40°C) and dry it on medium heat. Voila, a clean suit. (In fact, we actively advise against dry cleaning because it can have a negative impact on the performance of the fabric.)

This technical polyester has a great handfeel — it’s lightweight, soft, stretches, and breathes. So you’re actually comfortable while wearing it, making it a fan favorite as a lightweight suit for summer and destination weddings.

We initially launched with a classic navy (Blue Hour) and a dark charcoal (Gotham Grey), and later added a lighter option (Northwest Grey). The colors all have a nice visual texture and depth that help them look like a classic wool suit fabric.

Meet the Blazer

The Gramercy Blazer

The Gramercy Blazer was the third product we launched on Kickstarter — and wow. We raised almost $350,000 from 1252 backers in our 2016 campaign.

It turned out that a lot of guys felt the same way I did about wanting a wrinkle-free travel blazer that looked amazing. (We know women do too, and we’re working on it. Check out our growing women’s line.)

This is a blazer I don’t have to baby. I travel with backpacks, not garment bags. I use my blazer as an extra layer and a travel pillow. I wear it to business meetings, straight out of my bag or off a bike commute.

It’s not only remarkable because of the fabric. We designed it with 10 pockets because practical, everyday carry items and travel security are important (and even more effective when invisible).

This series of pockets makes it easy to organize the things you need every day (phone, wallet, headphones), plus the important documents you need on the road (passport, tickets).

Meet the Pants

The Gramercy Pants

As soon as the blazer was available, we were flooded with requests for matching pants. So in 2017, we released the Gramercy Pants for a set of coordinating men’s suit separates designed to be comfortable, packable, and stylish.

We designed these as flat front dress pants to go great with the blazer or on their own, bringing a polished professional look to any outfit. Thanks to the breathable stretch fabric, I can happily wear them for hours on a plane and run around the city with my son.

With eight pockets, we’ve covered both organizational needs and safe travel concerns. Our signature phone pocket in the back waistband is perfect for everyday carry essentials, and three additional zipper pockets keep valuables secure.

Ways to Wear It

Riding a bike while wearing the Gramercy Suit

The wonderful thing about a good travel blazer is that you can wear it almost anywhere, and it goes with almost anything: from suit pants to chinos to jeans, over a t-shirt or with a button down and tie.

Now that we’ve expanded our line, we actually offer all those styles of pants plus a variety of shirts. And because our products are designed to coordinate together, it’s easy to style an outfit that looks great.

The Gramercy Suit has been revolutionary not only for our business but for my day-to-day life. I’m consistently impressed with it, and I’m so gratified to hear all the adventures it’s been a part of (and made better) for our guys. I can’t wait to hear where you take it.

Bluff on,
