- Machine wash cold 86° F (30° C) with like colors. Do not bleach. Dry medium heat. Low iron, if needed.

I’m very pleased with my Ascenders. They look good, and fit well. One reviewer thought they had too many pockets; I don’t see that the pockets distort the line of the pants very much at all. I’ve had “travel pants” with weird outside pockets; the Ascenders are a big improvement on those. I could easily see pairing these with a blazer for the office.
I do think pocket #7 is a little over-engineered. While it is intended to be accessed from inside the pant, it can be accessed from within the left zipped pocket as well. But because of how the top slit is made, it’s possible to think you’re putting something in pocket #7, but miss it altogether and drop the thing through the slit and down your leg onto the floor. It does function as a money belt, though, if you need that. Regardless, any foibles of pocket #7 are not enough to cost a star.
One small but thoughtful detail: The pants have a small gusset for the crotch. However, the stitching for the crotch is the exact same color as the fabric, whereas the stitching on the inseam is slightly darker than the fabric. It makes the gusset harder to see and so makes the pants look dressier.
One other thing: These pants are quite black. From the picture I thought they were either a very dark gray or light black, but they’re not. It’s not a weird black or anything, just darker than expected. I do like the color and will probably order another pair in gray or navy.

The pants are goof, once you figure out their sizing guidelines. There is a zipper on the back left pocket, perfect for a left handed person. For the rest of us, however, a zipper on the right back pocket would be a welcome upgrade.

Love Bluffworks blazers and shirts but for me there are way too many pockets and zippers on these pants. I travel domestically weekly (not to international hot spots for pickpocketing) and due to all the bulk of the zippers and pockets I generally do not grab these pants preferring the cleaner lines of other brands at a similar quality and price point. To be fair and to explain the four stars, the stretch and wrinkle free quality is there and the substantial total pocket zipper count was in the description. Got a regular fit. I normally wear 38/36 pants, but based on prior experience with Bluff ordered 38W/34L. The pants were a little long and I will need to take them to a tailor for hemming. As to the waist, I probably am a 37” waist and will need to alter the waist and back. All that said, I love the lightweight pants, the zippered pockets, the water resistance and the fact that they always look great for touring, hiking and going out in the evening.
Could you make waist sizes by the inch instead of every 2”?
